Scouting Report for Tazewell, Woodford, McLean, Livingston, and Champaign counties in Illinois
(Scroll down for NE and SD counties)
Reported by Robert “Bob” Starke, Ph.D.
At Peoria, IL., from April 20 to May 26, 457 GDD have accumulated, so we are running about 100 GDD above the past 11-year average. Soybeans continue to grow well, and post-herbicide sprays are just starting. All plots are planted, and we have installed the detection equipment over our sensor plants. We’re now collecting data every day as we begin to monitor for fungal infections.
Scouting Report for Cedar, Knox, Pierce counties in Nebraska and Yankton County in South Dakota
Reported by Tristan Mueller
As the Nebraska soybean crop is starting to grow in 2025, soybean producers face a range of diseases that can impact yield and quality. As farmers know, for there to be an outbreak in fungal disease, there needs to be a host (soybeans), a suitable environment, and a pathogen.

The CropVoice plots are now set up in our Nebraska network, and we’ll be monitoring the plots daily to help inform your fungicide decision this season. So far, the season is starting off dry, which does not favor the development of most fungal diseases. For some diseases, there are in-season management strategies that can help, and unfortunately, for others, there is not much that can be done.
