Scouting Report for Tazewell, Woodford, McLean, Livingston, and Champaign counties in Illinois
(Scroll down for NE and SD counties)
Reported by Robert “Bob” Starke, Ph.D.
The team installed the last of the detection equipment this week, and daily images from the CropVoice network are being analyzed for disease. We have also begun collecting leaf tissue to search for the DNA of common pathogens. The rains in the first week of June are helping many fields get past pre-herbicide leaf malformations, as shown in the picture below. While these programs are necessary for weed control, it is very helpful to have new trifoliates to feed the growing plants.

Scouting Report for Cedar, Knox, Pierce counties in Nebraska and Yankton County in South Dakota
Reported by Tristan Mueller
The CropVoice network in Nebraska is fully operational and monitoring for early signs of disease. Each day, we collect hundreds of images of our InnerSoy plants using our detection hardware – both RGB (traditional camera images) and fluorescent images. Our team uses advanced algorithms to analyze the images to detect fluorescence and any day-to-day changes in the plants.
As of last week, conditions in our Nebraska network turned from very dry to getting some much needed rain. It’s unclear what effect the moisture will have on getting the area out of the drought, or if the weather event is a one-off. In either case, we’ll continue closely monitoring how this will affect disease pressure.
