The CropVoice network currently indicates infection in parts of our Nebraska network in Cedar, Knox, Pierce, Dixon and Wayne counties. The Disease Alert for Yankton, South Dakota is still in effect.

This Disease Alert was triggered by InnerPlant’s InnerSoy plants (shown indicating infection in the image below) and verified by our team of scientists and in-field agronomists.

In addition to the InnerSoy plants, tissue samples tested positive for white mold near Osmond and Bloomfield. These tissue samples, analyzed through a proprietary CropVoice molecular assay, mean that white mold spores are in the air during the R2 stage, when infection can take hold.

Caption: InnerSoy plants express an optical signal that brightens as infection triggers their immune systems. These are images from one of the CropVoice network plots showing the signal becoming brighter.

Weather conditions have been favorable for white mold development this year. CropVoice disease models reached the white mold high-risk category earlier than any point in 10 years. This is similar to previous years, like 2018 and 2023, which were historically difficult years for white mold.

While you may not see symptoms in your fields for weeks, all sides of the disease triangle (host, pathogen, environment) point to probable infection to the extent that a fungicide application may be warranted. Contact your local retailer to discuss fungicide plans to protect your yield.

If you have connected your John Deere Operations Center account to the CropVoice network, additional details about the affected field(s) are available within the Operations Center Notifications tab.
